Transdermal CO2 Balneotherapy

Since ancient times physicians repeatedly observed the positive health effects of using carbon dioxide springs (natural springs). Modern science calls it CO2 Balneotherapy.

Practiced for centuries using carbonated waters, systematic and skilled balneotherapy is fast becoming more solidly grounded in the natural sciences, particularly with respect to use in treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disorders. No natural remedies can make use of such a broad and diverse base of knowledge as carbon dioxide treatments.

Although some of these early indications are now outdated and partially forgotten, the development of modern cardiology has also included combining modern age technology innovation with ancient knowledge. These two innovative concepts began to re-oxygenate the memory cells of enthusiastic investigators producing highly effective CO2 Balneotherapy-based technological solutions.

Before Respiderm™'s unique H2O/CO2 foggy vapor mixture-based therapy existed, only naturally occurring carbon dioxide (natural springs) had been applied for CO2 Balneotherapy treatments. Since natural springs are restricted to specific geographic areas - and its effectiveness was not improved by modern science and technology - it also restrained the widespread application of the CO2-enriched Balneological treatments.

FROM 1845 TO DATE

"…using naturally occurring carbonated water is the most traditional of therapeutic methods and the most thoroughly studied technique in the field of applied balneo-therapeutics. No natural remedies can make use of such a broad and diverse base of knowledge as carbon dioxide baths (CO2 Balneotherapy)."
- Dr. K.L. Schmidt Center for Internal Medicine in Bad Nauheim, Germany
"Note of a "congested, velvety, reddened skin".
-Bode of Bad Nauheim, Germany (1845)
"A sensation of warmth was discovered in CO2 baths and flushing of the skin in the bathed areas of the body."
- Piderit (1836) and Beneke (1859)
The Bohr Effect was first introduced describing how Hemoglobin in red blood cells are converting the CO2 to O2 and deliver the oxygen to organs and tissues where the body needs it.
- 1904 Christian Bohr (father of physicist Niels Bohr).
"In absorption experiments conducted, it was first demonstrated that CO2 is absorbed by passing through intact skin."
-Hediger (1928)
"Effervescing carbon dioxide baths may be made artificially by means of a special carbon dioxide mixing apparatus That will revolutionize the way we thing about Balneo-therapeutics in modern Health Care."
- Dr. Reinhard R. Bergel, USA (1996) Chairman of the Medical Advisory board of the International Medical Spa Association
"As a result of the regulatory tests conducted, the RespiDerm™'s technology is suitable for medical use."
-Institute for Hospital and Medical Engineering (ORKI), EU (1999)
